In affiliate marketing, an active publisher is an affiliate account that is deliberately pursuing a sale. Essentially, the term is used to describe an affiliate account holder who is holding up their end of the agreement by completing marketing techniques to drive visitors to the partner’s website or marketplace page.
Programs will often work with thousands of bloggers and website owners to maximize profits and exposure. However, just because thousands of people have signed up to advertise for the company doesn’t mean that they are actually doing it.
Website owners with affiliate accounts become active publishers the moment that they publish a link that results in a sales transaction from one of the website’s viewers. The term may also be used to describe websites that are using current links and advertising techniques to direct visitors to the company’s sales site or marketplace listing.
