An advertiser CID is a unique form of identification that’s used to simplify communications and avoid unnecessary confusion. CID stands for company identification. As the name would suggest, a CID is assigned to advertisers and merchants who are working with affiliates.
It’s used by affiliate networks to quickly distinguish between companies. Some businesses share similar names, which could make referring to them by name a bit confusing. To prevent any miscommunication and uncertainty, advertiser CIDs are used instead.
Typically, the advertiser CID is the only way that affiliates and networks refer to the companies. If you need to contact support for any issues you may be experiencing, the network will ask for the advertiser CID so that they can pull up reports and provide you with answers to your questions. You may also see the advertiser CID in your own reports, contracts, and documents rather than their full business name.
