Also known as CPC, this is the cost that is paid to a website when a user clicks on an ad. Google uses this metric to determine the amount of money that affiliates will pay for each click on a paid keyword or paid link.
Some affiliate programs operate on a CPC, or cost per click, model. With these programs, website owners get paid each time one of their visitors clicks on the affiliate link or creative. Clicking the unique link redirects web users to the merchant’s website, effectively creating more traffic. The unique affiliate link contains tracking code to ensure that each click is accurately recorded and credited to the website owner.
