A Click-Through is a term that’s used to describe the act of clicking on an affiliate link. Affiliates will place links in their content while they are promoting the advertiser’s product, service, or lead form. When the link is clicked, the visitor is taken to the company’s website where they can make a purchase or provide contact information.
Within each affiliate link is tracking code. Affiliate programs and advertisers can see how many times the affiliate link was used and how often it lead to a conversion. Some advertisers will pay for each click. However, some require the user to perform a certain action once they have reached the destination site. If the payable action is the click-through, advertisers will use the metrics to determine how much commission the affiliate should be paid.
